If we were having a {Coffee Date!}

Hey y’all! I’m so happy to be back with Jenna + Jenna today spilling my heart over coffee.. & this here blog! I hope that you all have enjoyed your week, the good & the bad that life brings along. Coffee makes everything better, right? Which is why this Coffee Date Link Up is one of my faves!

If we were having coffee, I would take you to this new and modernly rustic local coffee shop where I live. I would order a venti-sized pumpkin flavored latte with extra cinnamon.  I would tell you about all the highs + lows in my life & laugh about this vlog I did last night with some other lovely bloggers…

I would probably let you in on these little not-so-secrets:

+ I’m exhausted. And this blog is getting the bad end of the deal. I’m so thankful for  a job but it has totally turned my normal routine & schedule upside down. But, on the bright side…. that just means I am learning to be more organized. And that will be good for me.

+ Oh, I would get excited & tell you about how I am in the process of revamping my entire blog & I would show you pictures of the amazing blog design I am waiting for.. did someone say coral and teal? Eeee!

+ After asking how your week has been, I would tell you in a high pitched tone that my mom, brother, & sister are coming into town for the day & I am SO excited to see them after two weeks of being here at home. We’re going to eat lots of food and try not to spend so much $$ at Target.

+ My hubby & I are going to Canada next week for a mini-getaway and I would ask you… have you ever been to Canada?! Montreal to be exact. I hear they have maple syrup & tons of resturants, ay!

+ Last but certainly not least, I would tell you that God is good. And faithful. Oh, and trustworthy. He has given me strength when I thought I couldn’t go on. He has given me peace when my mind has been in some bad places. He has given me joy in trials. I would pray with & for you and ask if we can get a refill on those lattes?!?!

How have you been, lately? And what would you let me in on if we were having coffee right now?! You are loved, lady!

what do you choose?

busy schedule. work. jealousy. family issues. tough circumstances. bad days.

just a few things that get in the way of a grateful heart.

while I could ramble on & on about all of the little not-so-good things in my life, I’m going to choose to be grateful for the life that God has been so gracious to give me! What about you?

it’s the thoughts, words, & attitudes we have during those busy, hectic, and crazy days that really reveal who we are.

am I going to be grateful or hateful?

to be honest, it’s not my natural response to look on the brighter side of things when it seems like I don’t even have time to sit down. when life gets hard, when people get sick, when things get cancelled, we must decide what our response will be.

Instead of wishing your days away, stop & look around at all the things in your life that could be gone in an instant and be grateful for them.

Choose to be content with what you have when it’s easy to simply compare. “Comparison is the thief of joy.”

Decide to praise God for what He has given you & done for you instead of pointing out all of your flaws.

Choose joy over jealousy… choose a smile instead of a smirk… choose laughter instead of lies…

Life can be hard. In those times, call out to God for help. You don’t have to do it on your own. HE will give you the strength you need & He will provide you with the ability to be grateful in all things. You can choose joy because He is Joy. He is able!

When I Grow Up…

Yesterday’s Prompt over at The Blog-tember Challenge: “When I grow up, I want to be…”

If you would have asked me this question when I was a kid, I would have confidently told you that I wanted to be a boxer/dentist. My dad was a boxer and my mom stayed at home so naturally I wanted to be the next Hilary Swank from Million Dollar Baby. I’m not sure why I wanted to be a dentist; I just always enjoyed looking in people’s mouths. Haha! At other times, I have wanted to be an archeologist ever since I purchased that fancy rock tumbler. In high school, I wanted to be teacher {only because they got summers off} and secretly, I have always wanted to simply be a stay at home mom. Nowadays, I can honestly say that I really don’t care about which career I end up in. Right now I am a nanny and I have my own photography business and I love it. I would love to always be doing new and different things that I truly enjoy. I’m blessed with a God who provides no matter what & with a husband who supports and works hard for our little family.

I do care about the person that I am molding in to.

And when I grow up, I want to be…

+ a wife who unconditionally loves and respects her husband, a wife who is faithful & trustworthy

+ a mother (one day, not soon) who loves her kids and maybe even adopts one day

+ a friend who is known to be unconditionally caring & selfless, one who will drop her to-do list to listen to a hurting heart anytime, anywhere

+ a servant; a servant of God who truly loves His people and serves them

+  most importantly, a woman of God.. A woman who is confident in who she is in Christ, who fears nothing, who laughs at the things to come. A woman of God who trusts and loves her Savior more than anything on earth.

No matter what I will be doing in this life, I want to be doing it all for God. I’m so thankful that I can start today, right now. God is molding and shaping me into these things that I wrote above. It’s hard at times. It hurts. But it’s worth it!

What do you want to be when you “grow up”? I would love to hear from you!

You are loved!

Today I am linking up with Jenna & Anne, two bloggers who are easily becoming some of my faves, to bring you up to date to what’s going on in the life of yours truly. I love these things mainly because I can look back in a week or a month & see how God is directing my steps & what things I’m doing in my life lately. Now, I will stop rambling & cut to the chase. Let’s do it!

// Writing: I’ve had sort of a writer’s block since starting my new job. I’m sure that I am just trying to get adjusted, mentally & physically so I am currently brainstorming my new few blog posts & always texting my sweet husband and my bestie, Jaimie.

// Anticipating: The weekend! We are having dinner Friday night with a new fun couple from our church & Saturday night my husband and I are hosting a cookout filled with yummy steaks and lots of board games {because we’re awesome} I’m hoping to even get a fire going… everyone loves a good s’more 🙂 Oh, and I am anticipating switching blogging urls and getting a new blog design! You guys are gonna love it. I told you before that I was switching to but I am totally making a switch and going for blogger. So please stay tuned so you can follow me when it’s time!

// Wearing: The usual nowadays… running shorts & whatever tank top I find after the early 5 am alarm. I’m stoked to soon break out my fall wardrobe! It’s been a hot summer here in TN but a little over two weeks and I will be enjoying a nice Canadian breeze in the 60’s. Yay for my husband winning free vacations!

// Craving: Always coffee. Particularly, the PSL over at starbucks. I’ve been hearing so much bad talk about it but come on people, that thang is to. die. for. Anyone have a homemade recipe that tastes better than starbucks?! I would love to know!

// Missing: Spending time with my husband. Like I said earlier, I’m still getting used to working 5 days a week & I have been spoiled by seeing my husband really whenever I want so it’s been hard but I can do it!

So, what’s currently going on in your life? Any of these you can relate to? I would love to hear from ya!

Wednesday’s Words {Worth & Identity}

Yesterday, I broke a kitchen glass. Oh, and I also washed my husband’s shoe with his work clothes. HOW DO YOU WASH A SHOE?! Only I would know. Apparently. This is what happens when I wake up and go straight to the laundry room without putting in my contacts or getting a cup of coffee down first. This morning, I forgot to add a vital part to our Keurig coffee maker which turned my nice hot cup of coffee into a murky cup of water and no time to make another cup… on my 5 AM work day. Needless to say, I’m not perfect. Surprise, surprise. Later that evening while my husband and I were getting ready for our double date, I asked him if he thought I was a good wife or not. “Of course, you’re the best.”

I am a wife but my identity and worth isn’t found in that vital & important role. I am a sister, daughter, & friend but my worth doesn’t depend on how “good” of a friend or sister or daughter I am. I am a nanny and a youth leader but my identity isn’t based on those roles. I am the worst of sinners and I tend to be negative at times but those things do not define me.

Who I am, the essence of Katie, is found in Someone greater than I could ever be. My worth is found in Jesus Christ. HE makes me holy, righteous, & beautiful. He is the One who gives me worth, identity, and purpose. And the amazing part? I did nothing to deserve or earn it.

“For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life..” Titus 3:3-7

Jesus Christ saved me and you.. not because of works done by me in righteousness but according to His own mercy.

Because of His love for me, I have purpose and worth.

I can rest in that love that gives me identity. I am no longer my own. I was bought by a price by Jesus who paid the price for my sin. My worth is found in what Christ did on the cross. He made me alive by dying for my sin and then conquering it when He arose from that grave. With that declaration of an empty tomb, my soul came alive.

My identity? Yes, I am a wife, sister, daughter, leader, friend.. But because I was saved by God’s great mercy, I am now…

alive eternally & dead to sin {Romans 6:11}

holy {Hebrews 10:10}

righteous {Romans 4:5}

blameless {1 Corinthians 1:8}

free {Galatians 5:1}

whole {Colossians 2:10}

not condemned {Romans 8:1}

LOVED {Romans 8:35}

And YOU are loved!
