A Whole New Wardrobe ~

Belt of Truth..
Breastplate of righteousness..
Good news of peace..
Shield of Faith.. Helmet of Salvation.. Sword of the Spirit.. Prayer..

All of these are pieces of the full armor of God.

This is not just for men in combat or kids dressing up as soldiers during vacation bible school. This is a call from God to every follower of His to pick up the pieces out of His Word and put them on because this thing is a straight up fight. Friends, being a Christian is not about going to church on Sunday and slapping a Jesus fish on your bumper. It’s real and it’s messy and it’s a war. “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens.” This is from Ephesians 6:12

We need to be alert and ready. Please hear my heart. Being a follower of Christ is so much than what Jesus can do for you. Without the armor of God, we are weak and vulnerable to the Enemy.

“Be sober and alert. Your enemy the devil, like a roaring lion, is on the prowl looking for someone to devour.”
-1 Peter 5:8

My prayer is that this will not be you or me or anyone around us if we can help it. Jesus defeated death on the cross. May we never be defeated by the enemy’s attacks.

“For this reason, take up the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand your ground on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand.” {eph 6:13}

We fasten the belt of Truth around our waist so that we may stand and proclaim Truth and be a person of sincere truthfulness.

We fix the breastplate of righteousness over our hearts through Jesus alone. He is our righteousness. We can’t save ourselves in this battle. He must be our Protector.

We slip into our shoes of preparation that comes from the good news of peace. We will be ever ready to speak the Gospel and the peace from God over situations and even people in our lives that try to overcome us. Nothing we do on our own will free us. We need His peace.

We take up the shield of faith every day “which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one” -Eph. 6:16. Without this shield of Faith guarding our hearts and minds, the devil will shoot flaming arrows at us to try to wound us. These arrows can look like fear, anxiety, false thoughts, and pride. We especially need to raise this shield up and over our families and marriages. Satan hates both and is doing everything his miniscule little mind can think of to warp and ruin families all over the world. We have the power to stop this.

We put on the helmet of salvation and pick up the Sword of the spirit which is the Word of God, the bible.

Hebrews 4:12 – For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The Word of God is sharper than any double-edged sword. Um, have you ever seen a sword? Do you know what it can do? Obviously, the word of God is not meant to kill people but it is powerful and necessary for living victoriously in this life.

Lastly, we are called to pray.

Prayer is extremely vital and useful to us and for us. It is the direct line to God. We can’t fight this battle on our own. We can only overcome through the King Himself.

Forgetting to or being too stubborn to put this armor on is like walking from one end of a paintball field to the other during a game wearing a cute little number that includes no padding, no shielding… nothing. You may think you’re just fine because you look good. That is until the first shot comes whizzing at you out of no where and pops you right between the eyes and you’re down quicker than someone who can’t wear heels. You will be wishing you had that full suit on. I know I would.

Starting today, I’m putting on the armor of God. Will you?

Ephesians 6:10-18

Let me know how putting on the full armor of God has kept you safe from the enemy’s attacks. I am praying for every single one of you.
