what do you choose?

busy schedule. work. jealousy. family issues. tough circumstances. bad days.

just a few things that get in the way of a grateful heart.

while I could ramble on & on about all of the little not-so-good things in my life, I’m going to choose to be grateful for the life that God has been so gracious to give me! What about you?

it’s the thoughts, words, & attitudes we have during those busy, hectic, and crazy days that really reveal who we are.

am I going to be grateful or hateful?

to be honest, it’s not my natural response to look on the brighter side of things when it seems like I don’t even have time to sit down. when life gets hard, when people get sick, when things get cancelled, we must decide what our response will be.

Instead of wishing your days away, stop & look around at all the things in your life that could be gone in an instant and be grateful for them.

Choose to be content with what you have when it’s easy to simply compare. “Comparison is the thief of joy.”

Decide to praise God for what He has given you & done for you instead of pointing out all of your flaws.

Choose joy over jealousy… choose a smile instead of a smirk… choose laughter instead of lies…

Life can be hard. In those times, call out to God for help. You don’t have to do it on your own. HE will give you the strength you need & He will provide you with the ability to be grateful in all things. You can choose joy because He is Joy. He is able!

You are loved

Like a Wildfire, Invade Us Now—–

“Come set our hearts ablaze with hope
Like wildfire in our very souls
Holy Spirit come invade us now
We are Your Church
We need Your Power
In us”

Rend Collective Experiment

Father, Son, Holy Spirit. I talk to God on a daily basis. He is my father and my strength. I thank Jesus for being my friend and savior. But rarely do I ask the Holy Spirit for help. Which is odd because the three make up the mysterious majesty of God, the Trinity.

Why do we talk about the Holy Spirit like he is an “it”? He is God, just like the father and the son. He is God’s Spirit in us. He came into our hearts, made us alive, revived us, when we accepted Him as Savior and our whole life. Yet, I rarely ever ask Him for help specifically. Of course, God is beyond us and this isn’t me trying to explain to you this phenomenon that is the Trinity. I believe and I have faith. But I admit that it’s hard for me to think of the Holy Spirit for who He is. Since Jesus isn’t on earth anymore, He is inside of us in our souls! Holy Spirit. An amazing supernatural experience. We are more than our earthly shell, beloved.

I was flipping to Psalms this morning and came across a diagram if you will of truths specifically about the Holy Spirit. I knew I had to share it with you all! It blessed me so much and I hope it will bless you as well! It opened my eyes to the weight of glory in the Trinity. I am so thankful that God loves us so much so that He sent His Spirit to dwell in us, His redeemed & born again children who believe in Him.

Coffee Break // when you want to give up

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.

I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!

 ‭Psalm‬ ‭27‬:‭1, 4, 13-14‬ ESV

There are people in my life going through heart breaks, health issues, job loss, and confusion. I have known hopelessness, sleepless nights, & worry.

Some say life stops for no one and but I say that we have a Great Father & Protector who would stop time to save us.

Realize that God is on your side. The Lord is your Light in the darkness, your salvation when you feel like giving up. He is the one and only one who can guard your life and protect you with His right hand.

Have faith. Keep praying. Continue to trust.

Even when you can’t see the light. Even when you have been praying for years. Even when you want to give up.

My husband has had a tough month at work. While is it easy and natural to want to give up and think that God mustn’t care that we are struggling, our faith in God in these hard times is vital. If we had faith in God when everything was going great, is that really faith at all? We must have faith that God will work all things out for the good of those who love Him. His Word proclaims that truth.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

-Romans 8:28

Father, help me to have faith in you. True, unwaivering, undoubting faith. Please help all of your children who are struggling to find peace and hope. Lead them beside still waters, comfort their hearts. I pray for all of your children who are not struggling right now. I pray that their faith will be increased in this season so that when storms do come, they will stand strong through faith in You. You are so good & gracious. Amen.

You are loved

Coffee Break // strength & light

David’s collections in Psalm has really been changing my heart. God’s Word has the power to do that if we let it. I am in Psalm 50-something but I love going back and sharing with you a few words that are so deeply inspiring & moving. Today’s Coffee Break Pick Me Up is from Psalm 18. I encourage you to read it in whole. I’m just going to share bits & pieces of this beautiful psalm…

“I will love you, O Lord, my strength.

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer

My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;

My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised…”

oh, this could be the cry of my heart for the rest of my days… If it wasn’t for the Lord & the strength He daily gives to me, I wouldn’t be here. How grateful should our hearts be that He is able to be our Rock, our Fortress, & our Deliverer! {v 1-3a}

“He also brought me out into a broad place;

He delivered me because He delighted in me.”

I am so guilty of believing the lie that God does not delight in me. Sometimes I feel like I am just a bother & one of his children who get on his nerves. But he is not like a normal parent. His love for us is more than we can even imagine. He rescues us, helps us, teaches us, & loves us because He delights in us! Do you believe that God delights in you? Because He does! {v19}

“For You will light my lamp;

The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.

For by You I can run against a troop,

By my God I can leap over a wall.

As for God, His way is perfect;

The word of the Lord is proven;

He is a shield to all who trust in Him.”

I cannot put into words how thankful and humbled I am that the Lord lights up my darkness. In my self is no good thing. Jesus is the only light in me. And we can trust that God will always be willing to light our lamps. We don’t have to worry about being good enough. Another thing that just brings me to my knees in gratitude is the fact that by my God, I can leap over a wall. Is there a big wall you’re facing right now that you feel you will never overcome? By God & His mighty strength, anything is possible! We can trust these words of security and truth because the word of the Lord is proven. David can testify that God can be trusted even when thousands oppose us. Even when that wall seems too high. God is our shield. {v 28-30}

“Therefore, I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the Gentiles,

and sing praises to Your name.”

This verse is such a great reminder to me that my response to God should always be thanks and praise because He is so good to me. I should be willing to praise Him even around people who do not know Him. I should never be ashamed of my God. He helps me, gives me strength, leads me, protects me, makes the impossible possible, & is my shield. {v 49}

Thank Him for being all that you need.

He is enough!

Coffee Break // Humility

“The Lord is King forever and ever,

the nations will perish from His land.

Lord, you have heard the desire

of the humble;

You will strengthen their hearts.

You will listen carefully,

doing justice for the fatherless

and the oppressed

so that men of the earth

may terrify them no more.”

Psalm 10:16-18

Lord, help us to have humble hearts and live humble lives. May your mighty hand hold us and keep us. Strengthen our hearts today. Lord, you are a good and faithful God. Even when it seems like there is no justice in this world, you remind us that You alone have the right to judge. You will not abandon the fatherless and the oppressed. We trust in You. Give us hearts like your heart. Give us hearts that hear the cries of the oppressed & fatherless. Thank you for your great love for us! In Jesus name, Amen.

As you go through your day today, ask God to give you eyes to see the oppressed and fatherless people around you. Then, share with them the Love of Christ that set YOU FREE & made you a member in the family of God!

Isn’t He a great Father?! He is good.
